read moreTranshipment
Rocktree's transhipment capabilities offer a way to improve the quality, efficiency and scale of offshore loading and unloading of oceangoing dry bulk vessels, eliminating vessels size constraints in geographies with port draft restrictions and infrastructure limitations.
The company’s offshore floating terminals (OFTs), which were designed, constructed and delivered by its in-house project development team, carry out the same functions as a land-based port terminal, but are considerably less capital intensive, quicker to design, construct and mobilize, have a limited environmental impact, requiring minimal or no dredging, and offer a more flexible alternative compared to land-based infrastructure, reducing geography and commodity risk.
The innovative assets have allowed customers to bypass the infrastructure challenges associated with relying heavily on ports in emerging markets, as well as providing a fast and cost-effective alternative to existing ports affected by draft restrictions and other limitations.
Custom Logistics Solutions
Because one size does not fit all, Rocktree’s team seeks to understand customer requirements, carrying out feasibility studies to provide guidance on the implementation of tailored, practical and reliable logistics solutions that simplify the supply chain process and overcome infrastructure challenges associated with ports in emerging markets and other draft restrictions.
The company's solutions encompass:
- loading and unloading land-based infrastructure (jetties and ports)
- inland water transport (barging and feeder vessels)
- loading and unloading offshore transhipment solutions and
- ocean transport.
Rocktree has significant oversight experience in designing innovative solutions for its customers, ensuring all components are built to the highest technological and safety standards.

Economically and environmentally advantageous
As emerging markets increase both production and consumption of bulk commodities, sector participants have become more conscious of both capital intensity and environmental impact, resulting in transhipment becoming an increasingly relevant component of the global supply chain.
