Rocktree has teamed up with Treedom, a platform that enables the remote planting of trees, as part of our commitment to the environment.
The Treedom platform allows anyone to plant a tree remotely and then follow the story of the project in which it is planted. For full transparency, every tree is geolocated and photographed, with regular updates about the project posted in an online Tree Diary.
Treedom has planted more than 2 million trees since its foundation in 2010, with the support of over 100,000 farmers across 17 countries, bringing environmental benefits (offsetting CO2 emissions, supporting biodiversity, combating soil erosion and deforestation), as well as social benefits (training, food security, empowerment and income), which Rocktree are proud to be supporting.
Treedom are making the benefits of forest projects measurable through CO2 absorption estimates. In ten years, the trees planted with Rocktree support absorb 199,500 kg of CO2 - the same as you'd emit by travelling 1.8 million km by car*
Through the platform we are planting 1000 trees as part of the Rocktree forest, spanning locations such as Madagascar and Kenya. Creating a forest with Treedom is a symbolic action to mark the start of an exciting journey to become a truly sustainable business and supporting a more environmentally and socially responsible shipping industry.
A tree in the Rocktree forest is dedicated to each vessel we load through our OFTs, as well as one for each of our employees. View the story of each of our trees, or plant your own, here.
